PROJECTS
stevens hill farm
Stevens Hill Farm is nestled in the Catskill Mountain region in the town of Greenville, New York. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was built in 1741 and remains an iconic property in Greene County.
The Stevens family owned Stevens Hill for eight generations, and left an indelible legacy on their community and country. One of the most notable members of this storied family was Capt. James Stevens (1834-1916), a figure who rose to considerable prominence in local and county business, civic, religious and political affairs. He served the Union cause during the Civil War, as did his brother Samuel, who died during that conflict in 1864. A well-respected member of the local community and a stalwart member of the Greenville Presbyterian Church, Capt. Stevens was also a prominent insurance agent who served as the clerk of the Greene County board of supervisors.
When the Stevens family transferred their historic property into the care of our founder and The Oare Rover Foundation, we made a commitment to capture not only their family’s rich history but also the larger story of America that their heritage represents. And in keeping with our mission, we intend to share that history with the community.
To that end, we are now in the process of carefully restoring every square foot of Stevens Hill. This large-scale project aims to preserve Stevens Hill’s strong heritage and history while bringing its functionality into the present. In addition to preserving and restoring the existing farm structures, Oare Rover is working to expand the Farm in service of our local community with new structures and amenities including:
INDOOR POOL
TENNIS COURTS
BOAT HOUSE
HISTORIC BARNS
CAMPGROUNDS
SMALL AIRPORT
EVENT SPACE
GUEST ROOMS
VISITOR’S CENTER
MUSEUM
PUB
FITNESS CENTER
Upon completion, Stevens Hill Farm will open its doors to the public. We can’t wait to host you!
