GREENVILLE PIONEER MUSEUM &
CULTURAL ARTS CENTER

The Greenville Pioneer Museum & Cultural Arts Center is located on Stevens Hill, a Nationally Registered property in the Catskill Mountain region in the town of Greenville, NY.

To house the Museum’s sprawling journey through living history, we are currently restoring Stevens Hill’s barns and outbuildings, as well as erecting a new structure that will serve as the Main Exhibition Hall. Upon completion, the Museum will welcome students, researchers, artists and the general public to explore the legacy of the Stevens family, the stories of Greenville and the Catskill region, and the broader context of American history – from the French and Indian War, to the American Revolutionary War, to slavery and the Civil War. The Museum will offer a holistic and in-depth view of iconic people, places and events so local and national citizens can deepen their understanding of our country’s storied past.

In addition to the Museum’s exhibits, we are honored to be developing a living workshop on preservation best practices to empower the community to preserve its own history well beyond our walls.

Through the restoration and preservation of historic artifacts, structures, and the establishment of The Greenville Pioneer Museum & Cultural Arts Center, The Oare Rover Foundation’s vision is to memorialize the history of Upstate New York by presenting an authentic view of the dynamics that shaped its culture and community.

The rural areas of Albany and Greene Counties in New York have been traditionally underserved when it comes to the humanities. The Greenville Pioneer Museum & Cultural Arts Center will offer one of the poorest counties in New York State unprecedented exposure to a quality historical education experience.
